Hi there, I’m Megan, owner and creator of Custom Cakes by Megan. I’ve always been very passionate about art and creating since a very young age. I love to impress and inspire others by the things I make. I have a background of drawing, painting, singing, dance, photography, ceramics…. you name it. Little did I know I would enjoy baking and decorating cake as much as I do now.
After I graduated high school, I took a step back from creating and focused more on work and school. A few years went by and I had a career in the financial industry, and became a mother to two energetic, beautiful boys. A few months after my second son was born, I had to make a difficult decision whether I wanted to continue my career at the financial institution or be a stay at home mom. I chose to stay with my babies and raise them.
Occasionally I would make cakes for small get togethers. People would comment and say, “You made this?! You should sell these!”It seemed like any time I made a cake for someone, they were so pleased and it was the topic of conversation at the event. I was literally bringing JOY to the table.
I sat on this thought for a few months… thinking no way would people want to buy cake from me. Who even sells cake and how would I make my own business? Eventually, I said why not, what do I have to lose, and listed my cakes for sale online. I worked, practiced, and studied hard. Learning new skills along the way. What I love most about cake is that every cake is unique and different from the next.
